Accessibility statement
Calculator Center is committed to making its calculators usable by everyone, including people who rely on assistive technology.
This page is maintained by Calculator Center to describe the accessibility practices currently in place across the site. It is not an independent certification.
Conformance target
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard referenced by the U.S. Department of Justice for websites covered under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Features supporting accessibility
- Semantic HTML landmarks: a single
<main>, labeled navigation, and a "Skip to main content" link on every page. - Keyboard-operable interface with visible focus indicators on every interactive element.
- Text and interactive controls meet WCAG AA color-contrast ratios in both light and dark themes.
- All form inputs have associated labels; icon-only buttons carry
aria-label. - Live search results announce their count to screen readers via
aria-live. - Reduced-motion preference is honored — animations shorten to near-instant when the user's OS setting requests it.
- Page zoom to 200% and browser text resizing are supported without loss of content or function.
- Content structure follows a logical heading hierarchy for screen-reader navigation.
Known limitations
- Some charts (mortgage breakdown, retirement projection) present information visually. The same values are always available in the adjacent results table for non-visual users.
- Printed PDF exports rely on the reader's PDF software for text-to-speech and reflow support.
Compatibility
Calculator Center is tested with the current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge, and with the NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver screen readers. It should also function with older browsers, though some visual polish may degrade.
Feedback and reporting a barrier
If you encounter an accessibility barrier or need content in a different format, please contact us at hello@calculator.center. We aim to respond within five business days.
Legal note
Accessibility conformance is a continuous process, not a one-time state. This statement describes the site's current design and does not constitute a legal determination of ADA compliance. Users who require a formal accommodation should contact us directly using the address above.
