Car Payment Calculator
Estimate a monthly car payment and total vehicle cost using the vehicle price, down payment, trade-in, taxes, fees, interest rate, and loan term.
Formula
Amount financed = price + tax + fees − down payment − trade-in equity − rebate.
The monthly payment uses the fixed-rate amortization formula on the amount financed at the entered APR and loan term.
Notes
Actual rates, prices, taxes, registration costs, dealer fees, rebates, and financing terms vary. This is an estimate, not a financing offer.
Methodology & sources
Every formula on this page is verified against the authoritative publications listed below. Assumptions describe the boundaries of the estimate.
Formulas
- Financed = Price + Sales tax + Fees − Down − Trade-in + Trade-in owed − Rebate
- M = P × [r(1+r)^n] ÷ [(1+r)^n − 1] where r = APR/12, n = term in months
Assumptions
- Sales tax is applied to the vehicle price only (state rules vary).
- Fixed APR; no prepayment penalty, balloon, or dealer add-ons after signing.
- Trade-in reduces the financed amount; negative equity increases it.
